With our previous Blog on how to choose your engagement ring diamond we gave you an excellent overview of what you need to know about stuff while buying a ring. Then I did tell you I will tell you more about the 4C’s. Here you go…
The Cut of the diamond is the most important factor in determining the worth of the diamond. The better the cut of the diamond better is the beauty. Generally this is associated with the shape of the diamond.
The variety of diamond color is vast! (Blue’s, pink’s greens etc). But where white is concerned the diamonds vary in the range of yellow tints. Hence as white as the diamond gets the better the clarity and the color. Hence the more expensive the diamond gets. The color grades are generally associated with the letter D to N, R,S,Z .This generally becomes unnoticeable once its set in the ring and place in the metal.
Since diamonds are found deep in the earth there are imperfections in the stone due to various factors. SO clarity is the degree to which these imperfections are present. Diamonds which contain numerous or significant inclusions or blemishes are low-grade because of the flaws that interfere with the path of light passing through the diamond.
The clarity is measured in the following symbols. (Excellent to inferior going from left to right. Hence priced accordingly)
FL, IF /VVS1,VVS2/VS1,VS2/SI1,SI2/I1/I2, I3
Carat is the measure of the weight of the diamond as opposed to the standard KARAT which is the measure of the purity of gold. 1 carat =0.2 gms. So greater the carat costlier the stone!
