To The Land of Rising Sun in a Dream Liner – Tokyo Diaries

To The Land of Rising Sun in a Dream Liner

Tokyo is one among the top 20 cities to be visited as per some leading traveler magazines. It was not an easy plan since Tokyo is an expensive city. Luck came in my favor, in the form of a business assignment. yaay, I am going to Tokyo, Japan. Kanpei! That was the first thing which came to my mind. I have heard from my colleagues and other people about Japan and how costly Tokyo is. I was never worried reason being my company is paying for my visit, every single penny πŸ˜› Β …All planned, packed and arranged, I headed for airport leaving Laks at home. Normally whenever a trip is planned, we both go together, but this is the first time I am going to visit a new place alone, even though it was for official purpose. There was one more colleague travelling with me to the land of rising sun.

5th July, The date is unforgettable: 1) Travelling to Tokyo 2) Argentina vs Belgium Quarter-final Clash. My flight is at 9:10pm IST which means I am going to miss the match or I will have to miss the flight to watch the match. Reached airport early and my friend told me he received a message from Air India (forgot to say I was travelling in a AirIndia, Yes I am brave that way πŸ˜› ). The message was that flight got delayed by 40 minutes which means scheduled departure will be at 9:50pm. We said let’s check-in, do the immigration and then relax. Relaxation started with burgers from McDonald’s followed by soft drinks. So try Budweiser Magnum, it is a good beer! πŸ˜€ Meanwhile we received a call saying that Flight is further delayed, the new departure time is 11:00 pm. I jumped with joy and my colleague was clueless. He was like, dude What the Hell, our flight got delayed and you are happy. I said Man, I can watch the First half of Argentina vs Belgium Quarter Final match. He was oh! Yes, so where? We found a nice sports bar in T3, Delhi Daredevil’s Sports bar. Found a good table strategically placed with the best view of the big screen and we waited for the match to start. Meanwhile Tuborg Magnum happened again.. πŸ˜‰

Magnum looks like this πŸ™‚

There were Indians and foreigners in that place, everyone having a beer and something to eat. Some are busy with their laptop others chatting and then the Belgium vs Argentina match starts. The place is full of people and whoever is going towards boarding gate is standing outside and watching. The very first attack by Messy and I heard crowd cheering. I was like, Man I am lucky to be here today to watch this game. Almost everyone except an uncle who was a Belgian fan clapped and cheer each and every time Argentina attacked. I never enjoyed a flight delay like this much πŸ˜€ World cup definitely is magical. It was close to 10pm and the first half about to end. My colleague reminded me about the flight to Tokyo. First half ended and we walked towards boarding gate. Waited and boarded around 11Pm.

I was surprised to see a Boeing 787 Dream liner πŸ˜€ Yaay! I sang Pharrell’s Happy. & Air India rocks πŸ™‚ Man this long wait made me happy in two ways πŸ™‚ Boarded the flight and after the awesome take off, I was busy checking out the entertainment options. One thing I liked about flying on Air India is they got good collection of movies and things to watch. The stewards were polite and served food, beer etc on time. My first International travel on board Air India and I am loving it. I was reluctant about travelling on Air India opting out Japan Air lines, but this was one of the best journeys I had. We reached Narita International Airport, Japan close to 11am morning. After Immigration we started searching for options to go to Hotel. Public transport is awesome here. You don’t have to hire a cab any time, you got trains to al places. And there my Japan travel started. πŸ™‚

Really looking forward to your next post πŸ™‚ Surprised air India flight was good, but I admit the International flights are quite good… In terms of keeping up their time too!!!. We flew to Maldives by Air India & had a bad experience but flying to Singapore through Air India was pretty fine & good.
