ThinkBIG – Why You Shouldn’t Inherit College Education from your Parents

Education was a luxury earlier which became a priority later and necessity which can make sure you can conquer your dreams. Have you heard parents saying that they studied from Delhi university and they want their daughter to study from the same place or have you heard them saying that they were able to find a decent job after graduating from IIT and now they want their son to pursue the same. Yes, every time when a discussion on “Kya Socha” for your kid comes this kind of conversation comes up. Practically in today’s world such decision by parents are like asking people their kids to use Siemens phone (that big one with antenna) in the time of smartphones.

Many parents like their kids to follow their legacy or the path they had laid. Some others leave their kids on their own, let them choose their destiny. The fact is, in today’s world it is always better to choose one’s own stream of education than follow someone else’s. The level of competition has increased and the world is not the same as it has been 20 years back. Technology has invaded people and their skills. The practicality of studying some courses based on their success stories 20 years back is not going to land you in a job or get you a job with a good pay. Opportunities are changing, requirements of companies are changing and that of the society as well. In this time it is important that we shouldn’t limit our children’s imagination and aspirations with our limited 80’s-90’s experience, this is the world of 2016.

It’s time you should thinkBIG and guide your children too. There are many private colleges and universities which have some good courses and facilities which are at par with the job market. Instead of going for the old school education system, taking some professional courses in these universities may get you job easily. There are universities which team-up with foreign institutions and allow the students to take part in their education in India and the rest outside India. These kinds of courses are good for the students to gain much needed exposure and also learn about the competitive world.

Take a look at the opportunities that are provided in universities like LPU which they have showcased through this video. I like the way they have conveyed the message in this video about how your present decision will impact your future so when you anyways have to think then why not  thinkBIG……

  1. I tend to agree with your analysis. It seems like common sense that what worked 20 years ago will probably not work now. It’s good to mix things up!

  2. Wow..

Things have changed considerably as technology has influenced people and their skills. There is no harm in thinking the best for your children. The video is amazing. It emphasizes on the basic fundamental that your decision at present will surely have an impact on your future. Great Post.
