Our Goan Food Adventure!

Our Goan Food Adventure!

When foodies end up at North Goa on vacation this is what happens. Read the story if you are able to control your hunger and emotions for food :P We landed in the Dabolim Airport and headed straight to Baga since we did our hotel booking there. An hour later we were at the Baga Deck where we had booked our rooms and then at Baga Deck restaurant for the much needed Lunch, theres tarts our Goan food adventure :D

Awesome place with great ambiance, a menu with lots of options served by awesome staff :) We tried Goan food & they were awesome. The Chinese and starters here are also good, pricing is a bit upwards. For people who live outside India, they should definitely try this place for the Steak, English Breakfast and more options. They serve alcohol too and it is priced moderate. My favorite there is Goan fish curry (served with rice) & the Goan style chilly fry in starters. Yummy and unforgettable. Forgot to take pics of the food :(
We used to have breakfast here daily and they serve some good pancakes too :D
A good joint for couples and this restaurant is open 24×7. This is in Baga, Baga-calangute road approximately less than one km from Tito’s lane. Average Price for 4 people 2000INR Drinks are reasonably priced and if you are in a group its better to order a bottle of port wine and enjoy the dinner.

This is one restaurant I visit every time when I am in Goa and the seafood there is awesome. Go there and order a seafood platter & get blown away. I love the food here. The service is pretty good and this place is always crowded. It’s better to sit inside if you want a standard size table for 4, the table for 4 outside is too small especially if you order two starters. This is in Baga, you can walk through the beach or you can take your vehicle to there through Baga- Calangute road.
If you are a foodie, you can try some good seafood from their menu and be busy whole evening :D
Average cost for 4 people is close to 3000 including drinks, Try their seafood platter for sure.

Hotel Swapnil:
Now this is where you should go if you are staying in baga for some authentic goan cuisine at cheap price (atleast in Baga). We went there and tried Goan crab Masala, Goan Style Clams and Clams Masala Fry, Goan Prawns curry, Bangda fry and the awesome thali. This place is like 5mnts walk from De Baga Deck hotel towards calangute road. Walk from De bagadeck for 200mtrs and on the right hand side there is a lane which goes in. Walk 100mtrs and you will see a small hotel. The food their was homely and fresh. Crab Masala and Clams Masala fry were among the best we had in GOA. We used to go there for lunch, order a beer first and then a thali and one of the sides like crab masala or clams masala fry and make our taste buds do the rest. It is not dirt cheap, but cheap and good compared to the so many restaurants in that road.

There are some places we went to but didn’t get a chance to enjoy the food. One of the best places where we went was Cafe Lilliput in Anjuna. This is a big beautiful Shack + restaurant where you get to hear good music, beautiful sunset and once it is sundown, then this is the place for parties :D Approximate Cost for 4 is 1500-2000 (including drinks) It was too crowded that we had to leave the place.

Thalassa – Like the name, this is place with Greek ambience and always crowded. This place is expensive, but one of the most wanted places in Goa. It’s in Vagator where there is a good beach and then Thalassa which has got one of the best views since this is on the edge of the cliff. You don’t get a table here easily, especially one of those with view then you have to book atleast a week in advance (as per the staff there :O )
This is an expensive place and for 4 people it will costs 4000 for a decent lunch including drinks. Personally, I found this place overhyped for the food and the service. The staff there are not so welcoming since it is always crowded and they are not sensitive.

We also tried a number shacks in Baga beach. The food, cocktails and mocktails served in most of them were quite average but we enjoyed our beer, beautiful sea and sunset.

Apart from this, the day we were returning we checked out the Golden Chariot Restaurant inside Dabolim airport and they do serve some good biriyani’s, We loved the Prawns Biriyani served there.

So this was all about our Goan food adventure. Goa is definitely a heaven for foodies, especially seafood lovers.
