I am a Cleartrip user since 2010. I have used Makemytrip, Yatra etc prior to that. Cleartrip’s simple and user friendlyy UI made me stick to this one. I had booked almost all my travel through Cleartrip hence forth. I was a windows phone user a year back and an android user now. Cleartrip App is a unavoidable app on my phone. The ease of navigating through different menus, the ease of booking, the customer service etc make me use Cleartrip more than any other travel site.
Unlike other mobile app’s, Cleartrip haven’t given a app with lesser features; instead they have an app which is as good as the website with all features and a beautiful ui. Be it searching a flight or a hotel or both, It is so user friendly that anyone can also use this app without any difficulty. I normally book my flights using this app. To start with, I will suggest checking the offers available and then book accordingly. Mostly there will be some discounts or offer available on a Flight + Hotel or a to and fro trip. It’s always good to save some money right, On the Cleartrip app menu shows all discounts & offers available. The app has a very sleek interface which you can navigate without any lag. The menu is pretty simple and very classy, not cluttered.
Let us start with my favorite booking, Air ticket. If you choose flight booking, the booking page gives you option to choose flights, journey type (one-way or return), dates and Class. On the top of this page there is a history option which shows your recent searches, good for frequent travellers. You can also use voice to do a flight search, no typing and typos 🙂 The search result page shows the cheapest flight on top.
You can customize the search results the way you want using the filter option on the top right. The results displayed will be for a specific date and click the previous\ next buttons which will get you the fare for previous or next day. If you are planning a return trip, then the search results page will display the return trip fares with airlines filter on top and advanced filter on top right. On the bottom of the page you will be able to see the rate for the selected return trip. Clicking on book will take you to the review itinerary page where you can check the travel details, clicking on next will take you to meals & baggage page followed by traveler details and contact details. Following this is the payment page and your booking is done once the payment is confirmed. Payment options include credit card, debit card, net banking & even Wallets like Mobikwik.*
Similar is the case when I do a hotel booking. Some additions here is the options you see when you select the hotel you want to book. On the bottom of the search results page, you will be able to see some options like “last, Map, All, Popular, Quickeys”; by default quickeys will be selected. You can click on the map to see the location of hotel (to get an idea of whether the hotel is in city or outskirts etc). Selecting a hotel will take you to the page with Overview, photos, details, location, type of hotel, facilities available, check-in & check-out details, TripAdvisor rating etc. This is a very smart and good way to help the user figure out about the place he is booking. With TripAdvisor reviews, photos and other details, you won’t feel like you are booking hotel at a unknown place. You can even book a hotel along with a flight (mostly you get discounts while doing this. so check offers & deals in the menu).
Other than flight & hotel, you can also book buses & trains. For trains, you need to link you IRCTC ID. Once the Id is linked with you cleartrip ID, then you can book train tickets through cleartrip past Tatkal booking hours. Also this site fetches the information from IRCTC servers only, so basically booking hours on this site is same as the Irctc booking hours.
For bus tickets, Cleartrip app is a very good option. Select the From station & To station followed by date. You will get the list of available services with their prices. You can use the filter option on the right to customize the result as per your need. There are filter like Prices, departure time etc where you can opt accordingly. There is filter option for Bus type (A/C, Non-Ac, Sleeper, Semi-sleeper etc) and the last one is Preferred Operators. The best part of this is I normally use a particular bus operator mostly. Other than the filters, the main result page has got three Icons on the bottom – All, Popular (A star icon) and Volvo). This is the best way for a person like me to book, especially I prefer Volvo.
Cleartrip app shows the number of upcoming trips and trip details. They also have weekend getaways option which is very useful if you go to a new city. Many times it happens that most of us travel for work and get to spend the weekend at new cities. The weekend getaway option will list the getaways with drive time to each. You can swipe to the right or left of the screen and figure out which is best for you. There are more options like plan, collections, waytogo and a wallet. You can save your credit/debit card details for ease of booking, they use SSL etc to ensure these things are safe.
*You need to have money in your Mobikwik Wallet
I am not an app enthusiast, but I am a happy cleartrip app user. I have been using their app long enough to say this and the Cleartrip app is best for planning vacations, travel, exploring nearby places, getaways etc. Sleek and easy to use app with a simple and elegant interface with no lag anywhere. I have used Cleartrip app for windows phone and also the cleartrip app for Android. This is one of the best and easy to use app’s I have used. That is the reason why I use this as my personal travel manager for travel management.
A bit of improvement will be add some special privileges for Elite club members. Also linking with more Mobile wallets will be good.
