Saturday noon is supposed to be lazy especially when we wake up late. This Saturday also was lazy but with a plan and reason to wake-up and get ready. We had been invited for the new healthy and special menu launch at The Pavilion ITC Maurya and we were all excited. We left a bit late and reached ITC Maurya close to 1:30pm and headed straight to Pavilion which is just before Bukhara .
We got a warm invite from the staff and the moment we entered, we got to see the beautiful ambiance and yummy food decked up. There were way too many options for a buffet from starters too desserts. It was like entering a mall where you see varieties of food and food only in different colors, shapes and sizes along with smiling faces ready to help you out if needed.
Soon the Executive Chef Manesha and Richa Sharma the Marketing head of ITC Maurya came and started briefing about the new menu. The theme of the menu is like below:
Caringly Selected Mindfully prepared, The pavilion menu includes enticing and indulgent healthful combines that honour your discerning lifestyle choices. Every dish prepared is based on the season’s special and fresh options available. The dips, sauces and chutneys made were best example like the Beetroot Pesto that we had with the Amaranth & Finger millet, Fresh and special. Also, the butternut Squash & Carrot Puree was pure magic. That dip was like the Rolls Royce of dips and that was the first glimpse of goodness of the menu we got to see.
While we were blown away by the signature taste of the amaranth & finger millet and the heavenly beetroot pesto, that reminded us words of executive chef the new menu “aim towards putting nature first”. The first impression left by the new menu was the best and we were sure that what is gonna follow will be blockbuster.
Then came the yummy Pavilion shrimp Cocktail which is Citrus Spiked Prawns drilled with Classic cocktail sauce and a Molten brie accompanied by roast beets & spicy apple chutney. The shrimp cocktail was so awesome with the perfectly cooked, but not fried shrimp in the cocktail sauce with a tinch of citrus which gives tickles your tongue. The Molten brie had the best mozarella in it which gives you the feeling of something special, handmade with love.
Meanwhile Chef Jayesh the main man behind these yummy dishes made sure that there are no questions left unanswered about these special menu. Then came Tomato-basil soup and as a person who is not a very avid tomato soup lover I had my doubts. Chef Jayesh did the honor by serving it and I am in love with Tomato soup now, atleast I will give it a try again in ITC.
‘Lets move to the next course’ nobody told me that, else I might not have finished the entire soup because here comes two burgers along with French fries, the same American ones.
The Katsu Chicken burger is one of the finest burgers I ever had. With Caramelized onions giving it a sweet punch and the juicy chicken cooked to perfection making it the best. It left me longing for more and a feeling that a burger can be made yummy without much complication & sauces.
The green burger was also similar albait the Spinach based Burger with Rye and sunflower seed bus like the katsu burger and tasted similar because of the Caramelized onion.
To be frank, I am still stuck in the Katsu Chicken burger’s taste. That is a must try for everyone who loves burgers. While we were discussing about the chicken in Burger came our local hero Butter Chicken cooked in whole spices and in rich tomato and cashew gravy, accompanied by soft and fluffy Butter Roti. In normal case anyone can ignore, but once you taste the butter chicken the whole plan changes. Knowing the amount of food I had and the options I am supposed to eat I still didn’t have the heart to opt out from one of the yummiest butter chicken I ever had.
To make the Indian super food special came Sadi “Dilli ki Chaat” which included Dahi Gujjia, Moong Dal Gulgule and Tikki chatt and everything which tasted authentic, but butter chicken and Burger had put a restriction in eating anymore.
Looking at us and our situation, Excecutive Chef told us to go for the desserts instead of the next Items from Soul Food menu. When you are tummy full you can stuff a little more, but when you are hung over with taste there is no option other than to introduce a little bit of sin, Desserts. Sweet Adventures is what they call and it started with a Pavilion Chocolate Fudge followed by a Milk Chocolate Parfait. Each Dessert has its own signature taste and emotion which stays in your taste bud for long while it makes you forget all that you tasted before.
Apart from these these there were few more items in the menu which we would definitely try next time we visit The pavilion. The Soul food include Mushroom and Bean Fricasse which is a tasted Olive-studded focaccia.
The Lamb rib and Broad Bean Tagine was something we regret not trying but there were no space left in our tummy . lamb rib and Broad Bean Tagine included stewed apricots and mint couscous
It was one of the best lunch we had in recent times and if you are planning for a luxurious lunch outside, then Pavilion in ITC Maurya is a must try. Take our words for it.
