Chukku Kappi is a South Indian special medicinal coffee.
Our companions, bad cold, fever and cough come along with Winters. 😀 During childhood days my mom used to prepare this Chukku Kappi which never tasted good but vanishes my cold like a magic. I never bothered to ask mom what she adds in this coffee and how does this magic happens. Now again I’m in need of the same dry ginger coffee to beat the Delhi winters, so I called up mom for the recipe. I was amazed to know all the ingredients.
Winters are here and the dry ginger coffee would help you keep warm and healthy.So here I am sharing the recipe with you guys. 🙂

Ingredients:

Dry Ginger Powder: 1 teaspoon
Coffee Powder: 1 teaspoon
Water: 11/2 cups
Black Pepper freshly grounded: 1/2 teaspoon(use only freshly grounded Black Pepper)
Tulsi Leaves/Holy Basil Leaves: 7 to 8 (fresh or dried)
Jaggery: A small piece ( as per your taste)

Preparation:
Boil water in a saucepan along with Jaggery.
Add all the other ingredients and boil for a couple of minutes and serve hot
Drink the coffee immediately inhaling the steam coming out of it.

TKS tips:
If you are not a coffee person you can substitute coffee with tea leaves.
You can include 1/4 teaspoon of Cardamom Powder, Cumin Seeds and Coriander Seeds in your coffee
It’s good to keep the spice level high if you have a bad cold.

  1. I love coffee and I am gonna make this one day. Though I have had spiced tea so now I’m gonna try spiced coffee. Thankx for the wonderful recipe.
